Mod House Ornaments

Tuesday Afternoons: July 10 & 17 from 2 – 5 pm
Inspired by Mid Century Modern design, this set of 6 ornaments is so fun to make; they look fabulous on your Christmas tree or across your mantel. Made with Peltex, an ultra firm stabilizer that can be stitched with a strong needle, the stiffness of these always amaze people when they touch them, they can’t believe that they are made from fabric. The simple door and window designs are embellished with stitching that can be done either free motion or with your feed dogs up. Celebrate Christmas in July with us and make a set for the upcoming season!

Improvisational Quilting Club

I’d also like to start a club (3 hour class once/month from September – May excluding December) for Improvisational Piecing! Piecing a quilt improvisationally is very freeing – there are no corners to match, straight lines are optional and the end result is truly one of a kind! Each month we would learn a different type of improv and make either a large block or a few small blocks in that style. Depending upon how much you enjoyed that particular style of piecing, you could make a pillow or table runner, a baby quilt, or a full sized quilt with what you learned. The last month we’ll learn how to create a quilt top made from different style blocks and assemble a sampler quilt that could possibility look something like this:

We are creating an interest list for this to see what days would work best for people.

Free Motion Quilting Club

Redlands Sewing Center • 422 East State Street • Redlands, CA • 909.792.3994

Third Wednesday Evenings monthly from September – May in from 6:30 – 9:30 pm (4th Tuesday in November, no class in December)

This is a year long free motion quilting class, where there is time each month to work on the skills we learn in class, building on each FMQ motif presented so that by the end of the year you should have a strong understanding of lots of basic FMQ motifs and will have the confidence to free motion quilt actual quilts! In order to encourage lots of FMQ practice, I’ve designed a series of 4 simple projects that can be made with practice quilting sandwiches that we will make during the year, hopefully encouraging you to try out your new skills on smaller items that are useful and would make great gifts.

This is club for both beginners to FMQ as well as folks who have done some FMQ but are looking for the coaching and encouragement you get from working in this type of setting.
