Extreme Empty Nesting

A lot has been going on in my personal life this year, and it’s past time to share some of it.

After 15 years as Dean of the School of Music at the University of Redlands, my husband is headed to DeKalb, IL to become the director of the School of Music at Northern Illinois University.

Our older son Liam will be actually quite close by to him as he will be going to Northwestern University for his Master’s in Trombone Performance. Our younger son Logan will be studying film at San Francisco Art Institute starting this Fall. And so…

I will be staying in Redlands to continue to teach at the UoR and take advantage of the tuition exchange our university is part of to make Logan’s four years at the San Francisco Art Institute affordable(-ish!).

And also, our house is on the market!  Our large family home needs to serve another family, and I’m looking for a much smaller house that has a place for my #customdyeingsinkofawesomeness.

Our Realtors are confident that our house will sell quickly, please send energy to make that so our way!

  1. Wow, that is a whole lot of change! I know your house will sell fast because of the meticulous care that you have taken of it. I hope your new place, while smaller, will have a nice dye space! I also hope you take that fabulous sink with you!

  2. Yikes, lots of changes! As someone who lives only a couple of hours from DeKalb (but who’s also lived on the east and west coasts), I can say that this part of the world is a great place to live. Good luck with the big transitions.

  3. My brain is reeling just READING about the changes you are LIVING. I wish you and yours well throughout it all.
