Studio Snapshots | A Pillow Made with Leftovers

When making Elmer the Patchwork Elephant for a Christmas present, I had to make a patchwork panel:

to cut out all of Elmer’s pieces:

See the leftovers on the cutting board? I really didn’t want to throw them away, so, why not turn it into a pillow? I picked out all the cut of parts and uneven bits and I ended up with a panel 5 by 7 squares. I picked out a few leftover squares off the cutoff areas, and added a few more to make it a 7 by 7 square. After that, it was just figuring out how big to make a border so I could make a big pillow.

Next up is quilting it!
