Dyeing 103

Dyeing 103: Multi Color Cotton is full of lots of awesome color palettes! I share 20 of my favorite “secret recipes” and then walk you through the creation of 20 more based on color theory relationships. Here’s all the fabrics I dyed for this class:

Dyeing 104

In Dyeing 104: Multicolor Silk, I show you how to get bright, vibrant colors on silk using the exact same chemicals as you do for dyeing cotton! The techniques we use are very similar, but there are some major differences in the results because silk is a protein fiber and cotton is cellulose based. Here are most of the palettes I dyed for this class:

A lot of color-loving folks have enjoyed these classes, here’s some great feedback from them that I’d love to share with you:

Candy, the videos I’ve watched and the material I’ve read have been so thorough! You even did a video on how to use the website – awesome! Your explanation of your excel spreadsheet was so clear and understandable and how great of you to have applied these formulas for us so all we have to do is plug in our numbers. I just signed up a few days ago and am awaiting the basic dyes (my stock is old and mostly specialty colors), but I am so excited to have the knowledge you’re providing. I’ve dyed things before but had no knowledge of how to mix colors and have something wonderful be the result – it was very hit or miss. Surely I’ll have success now!

I love love love these classes. The format is perfect for my learning style and the lessons are easy to follow. I particularly like being able to go at my own pace and having enough examples that I can do the ones I want and find exciting, and skip the ones I don’t particularly care about doing while still learning everything in the lesson material. The color palette spreadsheets are worth so much more than the cost of the class. I can’t believe we are receiving the excellent instruction, AND the different “recipes” for the price it is being offered. Thanks Candy! Laine

It’s very helpful to have both video and documentation. I watch the videos for the first go round, but then have the documentation to refer back to when I just want to go over a particular aspect again, without re watching the whole video. The spreadsheets are great. If you aren’t familiar with Excel there is plenty of tutoring in the program, and if you are familiar with Excel, you will be able to figure out how to use the basic structure to make new blends of your own colors. Merran

Very informative and clear instructions in both written and video format. I’ve really enjoyed learning all the different techniques. I loved learning all the different variations in both colours and designs I could do.  Jackie

Your lessons are a joy, and I feel that I’m gaining a much better understanding of both dye and color.  I’ve almost finished 100 and will soon start 101. Jane

Candy’s dyeing classes are all wonderful. The material is well thought out and well-presented plus Candy is so responsive if a question or problem comes up. The spreadsheets in the class materials are a huge help for mixing the right amount of dyes for the project at hand. I highly recommend these classes for anyone who wants to learn Fiber Reactive Dyeing. They are worth the cost and time investment. Liz

I really enjoy “Candied Fabric Classes”. I continue to work through and reference each class, “Controlling Color”, “Controlling Texture’ and “Multi-color Techniques”. Candy presents each subject with a unique balance of science and art. Her methods allow you to repeat a favorite color or texture, while giving you the tools to explore your own creative avenues. Connie

We have all learned a ton; like any good class, the teacher learns from the students, and the students share great tips with one another. All of these online courses are designed to teach you how to use Procion MX Fiber Reactive Dyes on cotton in a controlled manner. Whether you are a beginner, or someone who has dyed in this manner before, my intention is to help you gain confidence in your dyeing and raise you from apprentice to “journey(wo)man” status.

Not quite sure if you’d like one of my online classes? I’ve created a sample session so you can give it a try – Click here!
