New Bag: A Leather Handled Linen Tote!

Tadah! Here’s my new tote bag, made with linen I dyed in my luscious Autumn Splendor and decorated with some of my birdies:

It’s got a nice amount of structure from the layer of SF101 fused to both the exterior and interior pieces. The exterior also has a layer of fleece fused and quilted to it:

Inside is a large pocket, big enough for a full sized iPad, then 2 smaller pockets for cell phone and sunglasses, it closes with a magnetic snap and of course, a key leash:

In the bottom is a form made from 2 layers of Peltex to give it structure and support.

I was feeling pretty good about this tote, so while dyeing 80 scarves on Saturday I also dyed some more linen and fabric in my Autumn Splendor palette so I can make some more!

This was my Friday, it took literally all day to get these dyed:

Most of the scarves are still in various stages of soaking as I write this post on Sunday evening, but I had the fabric washed and dried by Sunday morning, and started with this:

After a day of ironing, cutting, and fusing, I had this stack of pieces of four more totes ready for sewing:

That, my friends, represents several hours of ironing, cutting and fusing of interfacing and fleece. Four more #LeatherHandledLinenTotes are in the works! #fbp

  1. The tote looks great. A walking advertisement of your work! I love love LOVE the combination of linen and SF101. When I make linen clothing, it really cuts down on the wrinkling and is still breathable.
