Open Studio Tour Report

It’s official! I’ve finished the last show of the year! Yahoo! Usually, the studio tour I take part in has been held one of the weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but this year we couldn’t make it work…so it’s done and dusted!

I set up the living room/music room with all my everyday art, plus lots of my art is on the walls.

In the past, I’ve used the “scarf umbrella” that hubby had built me a few years ago…but he suggested we screw the setup we use in my booth to the wall, it worked great!

I had mostly steady visitors, with a lull of about 45 m inutes each day. For the most part, I could visit with each individual group of visitors, except for a crazy 15 minutes late on Sunday!

Most exciting is this fun Christmas tree and how it fits in with my Holiday Row Houses and Christmas Stockings:

I had a vision of this whole scene a couple of years ago. I just had to make the stockings, remodel the kitchen so I could paint the brick and mantlepiece white, and voila!

I made a garland from lots of the felted wool balls, and stitched up a bunch of retro ornaments, which I have quilted on the stockings. I added some of my mod house ornaments and some birds I made last year, oh my gosh, I love it!!!!

I’m so glad this tour pushed me to get this all up, although I usually don’t like to start decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving, the excitement of seeing all this together makes it worth it. I had a lot of fun showing this to the folks who came to the open studio!
