Candied Fabrics is Turning 7!!!

Giveaway is closed – thanks all!

Well my goodness, I’m beginning my 7th year of business! My very first art show was Red Dirt Art Festival in April of 2007. This Saturday, April 13,Β isΒ Red Dirt 2013, so I’m officially beginning year number 7 this weekend! This show is a little earlier than it usually is, but indeed, that first Red Dirt back in 2007 is how my career began, so I love to celebrate on the Red Dirt each Spring!

Here’s a shot of my setup at my very first Red Dirt:

Red-Dirt-Spring-07

And here are a couple of shots from last Fall’s Red Dirt:

To celebrate, I’ll be having a giveaway!

How do you enter?

In a little over two weeks time (April 27), I’ll choose two names:

  1. One from my newsletter subscribers (use the form in the sidebar if you’ve not already subscribed)
  2. Another from people who comment on this blog post: let me know if you won, would you rather have the scarf or the fabric?

What’s the prize?

Well, the winners will choose either one of myΒ hand dyed habotai scarves, in the color palette of your choice:

Giveaway-scarves

or a half yard of hand-dyed fabric, in one those scarf palettes (or my newest color palette, Autumn Splendor, which is only available on cotton).

I’ve had so many great experiences due to my adventures in art, and a lot of those come from interacting with folk either on my blog or at an art show, I’d like to say thanks to you all!

  1. Congratulations on your anniversary! Such lovely colors on everything. I love both the fabric and the scarves, but I don’t really wear scarves I would prefer the gorgeous fabric if I won. Thank you!
    Here’s to another seven years!

  2. If a lucky winner, I’d prefer the scarf which I would wear and tell everyone about you when asked.

  3. Congratulations on your 7 years. Your scarves, fabrics and other items are beautiful! What a dilemna you present me with, but if I won I think I would prefer the fabric to make somthing wonderful – if cotton, wouldn’t it make a fantastic tote!

  4. Congratulations! I’d love to see you at a festival so I could have an “up close and personal” look at every thing you make. If I win your drawing, I choose one of those luscious looking scarves.

  5. Congratulations on your anniversary. I took the 102 class in January and am using my 60 + fat quarters in several projects. I just love looking at the glorious colors!! If I am picked, I would love a piece of your cotton multi fabric. I recommend your classes all the time in my guilds.

  6. Forgot to include in my last comment that your Red Dirt booth is so very inviting and colorful – how could one not buy, buy, buy!!

  7. I’m not sure. I think I’d go with the fabric since I don’t wear scarves but maybe if I had a really beautiful scarf like these I’d start wearing them. Thanks!

  8. Happy Birthday Miss Candy Fabric! Congrats on 7 great years and going strong! I do love your colors, fabrics, and creations so much. I used the velvet scarf I have from you all winter long and use my tote bag for my cross stitch projects almost every day. Although dying fabric and sewing machine work is not my thing, I love to see what you are up to and always like seeing the real thing at the local art shows. Thanks for brightening so many people’s worlds! πŸ™‚

  9. If I win I would love the fabric. I would rather be selfish and have the gorgeous scarf for myself but I sew for my 3 year old granddaughter and I’m picturing a beautiful ruffle jumper for her in your fabric!!

  10. Congratulations on achieving a milestone! You are so creative and your products are gorgeous! May you have many more milestones! If I were to win the give-a-way, I don’t know what to choose either! I think I’ll go with the fabric. Thank you!

  11. That’s a long time! Congratulations! I like that you so clearly still enjoy what you do…I’m at 7 years in my job this fall, and I can’t say that anymore most days. :(. Anyway, that said, if I won, I’d have a hard time choosing, but I’d probably pick another scarf, given how much I’ve enjoyed wearing my wedding scarf! This spring I don’t get to wear it with the coat that looks so great with it that I wore in those wedding photos, since my big ol’ pregnant belly doesn’t fit anymore in any of my spring coats! Which is all the more reason that winning a new one would be exciting! I loved the baby layette that you made, by the way…not sure if I commented or just silently oohed and aahed! I’m still hoping to make this kiddo some stuff…though the final 10 week countdown has started and he may just be out of luck for right now! I should have made some quilts for him before getting pregnant instead of giving them all away to friends or charity! Live and learn!

  12. Candy,
Congrats on your anniversary! May the number 7 bring you good luck this year. I am WAY chomping at the bit for your 103 and 104 class. I have been making infinity scarves (cotton) from all the texturing that I learned in dyeing 102. Very fun and very fast. I made 5 in 90 min yesterday, overdyed with sliding pleats and some pleated and rolled. I am a sucker for a scarf, so that would be my choice. Good luck at Red Dirt and with the boys as soon as school is over. :0)

  18. Yes, things have certainly changed for you business-wise! Congratulations!

Although I think the scarves are lovely, I rarely wear one so I’d take cotton fabric!

  19. Congratulations on your milestone in beginning your seventh year. Awesome color combinations. I love them all. Since I am not a scarf wearer, I would prefer fabric. Thanks.

  20. Well, congratulations on 7 years! I’m so happy for you. πŸ™‚

    show in person.
    Again….Kudos to you !

  22. I have been looking at your talent for some time now and your work is just beautiful!

  23. I adore your scarves – since you had posted about the scarves you had made for the wedding party; but since I would probably not have much opportunity to wear one, I’d opt for the fabric!

  24. Congratulations Candy! I would definitely choose a scarf. The one on the far right! I fell in love with it right away.
You are a real inspiration to me, and I mean that. Thank you!

  33. Congratulations on reaching this milestone and hope you have many more years continuing your awesome work with silk.

If possible i’d love to have one of your hand dyed habotai silk scarves:) I’m huge fan of silk scarf painting and dyeing process!

  34. Congrats on 7 years, Candy, you rock! I’d love to select one of your lovely new scarves since I seem to have lost mine that I’ve loved using for 3 years. I know I don’t get to your shows much but I’m always cheering you on as a model entrepreneur and creative person.

  35. 7 years as a small business is a massive achievement!! Congrats!! I would love the fabric if I was lucky enough to win.

  36. Happy BDAY! Seven is a very good number, lots of good luck! I’d love one of your beautiful scarves, your colorways are gorgeous!

  37. Your fabrics are wonderful. Just found you today. Your neck candies are to dye for. That would be my choice in the fabulous blues.
Liked your page. Hope to see more of your work. Here’s to seven (at least) more years!!
    Sewsck@gmail.com

  38. I took your Dyeing 101 class and learned so much–do you teach how to dye fabric like the piece you’re giving away in one of your other online classes? The last thing I need is more fabric but I would love to win a piece!

  39. I just came upon your fabric and am stunned. Beautiful and a must have! I love what you do, refreshing and gorgeous and so creative.

  40. Congratulations on your 7th year of business! I can’t believe it’s been that long already. I remember the first time I came across you via Pink Chalk Studio’s blog ages ago. It’s so great to see how your booth has expanded from that first year. πŸ™‚

PS… If I’m lucky enough to win I’d love one of your scarves. The colors are so rich looking on the habotai.

  41. Hi Candy,
I love your work and your blog. I’d like to win the scarf you are offering.

Congratulations on 7 years in business!
    Jill

  42. That is a very hard decision, but I think those luscious scarves are calling to me! Congratulations and wishing you continued success!

  43. Steller accomplishment. Your passion shows in the art your create. Congrats as you go into your 7th year.

  44. Congratulations on your anniversary! Oh my goodness both are divinely beautiful! It would be nice to win one ((the 27th is my birthday!) The scarf would be wonderful to wear (who could cut up that gorgeous fabric….)

  45. Wow! Congratulations! Everything you create is soooooo beautiful! If I am fortunate to win, my choice is a scarf in Earth, Wind, and Fire. Here’s to an even greater future!

  46. Congratulations on your 7 year anniversary You inspire me to dye both scarves and fabric. I would love the fabric if I am lucky enough to win.

  47. Congratulations! I can see why you have come so far, your fabrics are magnificent. If I were to win, I would choose one of your beautiful hand-dyed scarves (instant gratification πŸ˜‰ ).

  48. Your fabric is fabulous! I loved reading about your growth from your first show to now. What a fun journey. I’m fairly new to quilting and blogs like yours are feeding my new ‘addiction’. I’d love to have some of your fabric in one of my projects!

  49. Congratulations on your 7-year anniversary! Your work is amazing! I first saw you on Quilting Arts and loved your infectious laugh. You’re so happy, funny and talented! I ordered both the issues of QA Gifts in which you have projects. How about selling a pattern on your blog for the darlin’ linen zipper bags? Your booth at Red Dirt looks smashing! If I win, I’d adore some of your super delicious fabric. Thank you.

  50. Congrats on your 7th anniversary Candy. I bought two of your beautiful scarves for my two beautiful daughters a couple of years ago and regret not buying one for myself. I sure would love to have one of your scarves…..better yet, it would be wonderful to win one!!

  51. And I was there to see that cutesy little business born!!! Awww!! So proud of you and all you have achieved. What happened to all that pegboard? Still remember you asking me “Do you really think anyone would want to buy this?” What a hoot!
Send me the rainbow scarf if I win.

  52. Would absolutely love to win some of your fabric. I already follow you on FB. Congratulations on 7 years.

  53. Wow, look at the changes between your first Red Dirt and last year’s! You are an inspiration! I’d go with the fabric, although it would be a hard choice πŸ™‚

  54. Seven years! WOW CANDY! What you have accomplished in that time!!! Who knew……….that day seven years ago that you first took me up to your bedroom and I found myself in scarf heaven!!! My very first Candied scarf, the one I fell in love with that day, is still my favorite and goes with me everywhere. It – and a half dozen others – have been to Europe with me and from coast to coast in America. Your scarves are such easy care and the colors are as vibrant today as they were originally! I always feel beautiful in your handiwork. THANK YOU, dear friend!!!

  55. Congratulations on your anniversary!! Love your hand-dyes and would certainly be inspired to create a quilt highlighting the blue & green collection.

  56. Congratulations on 7 years!! Time does fly by, doesn’t it?
I would love to have one of your scarves when you pick my name….thinking positively! Thanks for the chance. πŸ˜€

  57. Congratulations for following your passion! I would love one of your beautiful scarves.
