Mission: 30 Custom Tote bags by Saturday Update #2

As the week rushes to a close, with 30 custom totes due by tomorrow, Thursday night found me turning all 30 of the free motion stitched patches inside out when I normally would be blogging, but here’s where I am now:

I’m so happy that I changed the way I construct these bags for this project, because now I’m on the home stretch. I’ll place and iron down the patches (I use a really lightweight fusible interfacing to make the patch), stitch around them….and then I’m done! Woot!

My one moment this week? Both my sons are avid readers, but the older one never got into my favorite series, the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. My just turned 9 year old younger boy however has been reading them, and I’ve loved that! (I love reading so much that I’ve always been afraid I’d push a book on my kid and they’d HATE it, so I never push…suggest, but never push). (Actually, when the boys were small I lived in fear they wouldn’t become readers, and although I read TO them, I never tried to teach them to read, but waited until they showed me they were ready…this approach worked, because they are both avid readers and read way above their grade levels). ANYWAY, my one moment was when I asked Logan what his favorite part of “Little House in the Big Woods” was, and when he said is was the maple syrup on the snow, I was like – “me TOO!”  How neat that he and I love the same part of the book! (My friends and family often remark on how similar Logan is to me…)
