Makers Must: Amy Ellis of Amy’s Creative Side

Do you know Amy? She’s the smart cookie who started Blogger’s Quilt Festival last Spring, and she’s getting ready for the 3rd one, it’ll happen under a month from now (May 21-28)

1. Where are you located globally?

We live in the Heber Valley, in Utah. Up in the mountains east of Salt Lake City, it’s beautiful, but I’m really ready for spring!

2. Where are you found online?

amyscreativeside.com

3. What is your favorite thing to make?

Quilts!

4. When you’re making it…

a. what do you love most about it?

I love that I can take bits of fabric, sew them together and make something beautiful. I love sketching an idea and watching it come to life in my hands as I sew. I love putting the finishing touches on the binding, and throwing it in the wash!

b. is there some part you really can’t stand?

Not really, maybe waiting for fabric to arrive in the mail.

5. Do you consider yourself process or product oriented?

Process, I’m not sure I could sell quilts on a regular basis, I put too much of myself in each one. However, I am working on releasing patterns, so you can make your own creations!

Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit Amy…you’ve got such a positive outlook on life! Are you sure you like everything about making a quilt? Even the layering of the top, batting and back? I hate that part, always worrying about getting everything even, with no wrinkles! And, that photo of all the strips laying there? Fantastic!

  1. Thank you so much for having me Candy! I can’t believe I have less than a month left – eek! I need to focus a little more energy there this week 🙂

Layering a quilt – it worries me too, but I think I’m outgrowing my perfectionism! And Natalia has been in charge of my last 14 quilts 🙂
