Meetup | February Goals

Well! One HUGE Goal is off my list, hurrah! The website migration and re-design is complete, hooray! Now, it’s not totally done, but now that I’m on the new hosting with an upgraded backend there are more things that I can do myself that I couldn’t before, so there’s more to do. But this is a huge hooray! Of course, the design doesn’t LOOK much different, but my website is now mobile friendly, hooray!

I had a fair amount of teaching to do in January. First off, I had a lecture and then a full day workshop with the Coachella Valley Quilt Guild in the middle of the month. They have a fabulous place to meet and have workshops, part of the UCR-Palm Desert Campus. Here I am in the back during their meeting; they had a lot of quilt hanging racks so I hung all the bigger quilts I’d brought, the ones down on the floor were turned over so I could show each one at the appropriate time. (THat big quilt in the center is their auction quilt)

Here I am yapping away, it was great to have such a large screen to show all the pictures I had:

Their FB manager took this pic of me!

The next day I taught a Free Motion Machine Sketching class, we had great fun, so much fun that I forgot to take pix at the end of students with their work. Here’s a couple of me in action:

When I teach, I usually bring a box of fabric, mostly half yards of multicolor one of a kind fabrics, but for this weekend I made some packs of different color palettes with 6 FQ single colors plus a half yard of multi-color. These were really popular, I’m sad that I finished assembling them so late that I was only able to get a couple of not too great pix:

Note to self: make more of these!!!!

I also taught a 3 session FMQ class at the Redlands Sewing Center. Oh man, did we have a BLAST! These ladies were a hoot, I barely got pictures but here’s a fun one of a “dream student” who was so good she could quilt with her feet! (Not really 😉 )

One of my students brought a Featherweight that she has set up for Free Motion, I HAD to try it, and it did quite well! Of course, there’s not a lot of room under the arm, which hinders a bit, but the stitch quality was quite nice!

Connie is originally from Massachusetts, her accent reminds me of home! She had a great time and really took to a couple of motifs quite well!

I did get one pic at the end, a few folks had already left:

We had a blast, and they’ve come up with a new idea for a class which works well with something the sewing center does, a “club”, which meets monthly from September to May with December off. I’ll be offering this through the Sewing Center next Fall!

Oh, and the Laundry Room is done! Hubby finally made, painted and hung the shelf I wanted. I’m letting it cure a few more days before loading it up, once I do I’ll take a couple pix to share.

OK, lets see what’s on the list for February!

I’m so glad that I never decided what to do for curtains in the Dining Room – it needs repainting, which I’m hoping to get done over my Spring Break. THEN I’ll make new curtains! In the midst of all this stuff, I’m hoping to have time to start on the Tree Quilt that I’ve been wanting to make for years! This year I need to get more sewing for myself into the picture! Wish me luck!
