Branch and Bird Mini Quilts

Although it seems like a zillion years ago, it’s really been a little over 2 years since I started publishing articles for the awesome folks at Quilting Arts.

The folks at Quilting Arts have used an article I wrote for them a couple of years ago and re-published it in a free e-book called “Quilting for Beginners“.

So if you’d like to try your hand at these cute little pieces, click on over to download yourself a copy (you have to become a member of their community, so if you’re not, this link will first prompt you to sign up before taking you to the download page.)

I love the look of your Birds on a Branch mini quilts. I downloaded the beginning book from Quilting Arts, but I am confused. Is there a video or step by step photos? I’ve never done any applique before. And some of the square measurements confuse me. If the background is 7 inches, and the batting is 4.5 inches, why is the a 1 inch border? Am I reading it wrong? Please help….
