Handmade Gifts Giveaway

Giveaway is closed, congrats to Amy who loves Black Orchid!

I hope you’ve all enjoyed my DVD blog tour, complete with 12 giveaways! I’ve received so much great support from folks all over the internet that I love to give back to it – so I thought I’d end with just one more!

It’s the holiday season, and I love to give handmade gifts: either ones I make myself or buy from a fellow artist. My hand dyed scarves make excellent gifts, so I’d love to help you give one to someone (or…save it for yourself! You could wrap it up and put it under the tree and say it’s from “Candy Claus!)

How to enter? Just take a peek at my scarf color palettes and then leave me a comment on this post telling me which one is your favorite…or, is there a certain color combination that you’d like to see that isn’t there? I’m always looking for new color ideas, let me know! (Comment moderation is on, so don’t worry if your comment doesn’t show up right away, I’ve got to approve it first!) I will ship internationally.

Sew Mama Sew has put together a huge list of blogs hosting giveaways this week, if you’ve got some time, head on over and enter some more! They all end this Friday at 5 pm Pacific, so you’ve got a few days to tour around and enter a bunch!

I’ll email the winner over the weekend and I’ll send the winner’s choice of habotai scarf out a week from today so it can under the tree for Christmas! (Or around your neck for a holiday celebration!)

  1. Love all your scarves…they are so beautiful…but like always I am partially to pink-gray-orange combos when it comes scarves. Ocean surf and wild rice are also very pretty

  2. I love the Ocean Surf color palette. I couldn’t find the pricing and availability of your scarves – please help.

  3. Your scarves are beautiful, I love scarves. My favorites are the Chocolate Squash and Madrigals so if I win, surprise me!

  4. As a new devotee of scarves I am pretty excited about this giveaway! They frame the face so perfectly & make any outfit… I told you I was a convert!

Really very hard to choose a favourite colourway but I think I’d get the most wear out of the Earth & Sky… If I had to choose just one!

Thanks for the chance & Merry Christmas.

  5. I love the dramatic colours but for a change Lilac grabs me – I might even give it to my Mum as a pressie. Thanks for the giveaway.

  6. I think my favorite is Wisteria from colors of summer, although I like all the combinations that have the aqua in them. All the colors are beautiful!
    Jane

  7. I love the summer, bright, big and bold colors! But I think a blue-green palette would be super fun to create… but they are all fun to create, I am sure! Thank you Candy.

  8. Your work is wonderful. Who wouldn’t love a scarf from Candy Claus? I am totally drawn to you r Burnt Fire color. The black orchid was a close second though! Thanks for the chance to win!

  9. I think the wild rice color combo is very pretty! I think it would be good for winter and spring.

  10. Oooh, my sister-in-law would love these! For her I would choose Wisteria. I love blue, and my favorite color combination would be blue mustard pumpkin and sage. Maybe that’s too many?

  11. This would so be to me from Candy Clause. No way such prettiness would be given elsewhere.

I love: Moonlit Moth, Black Orchid, and Ocean surf, but I’d love a dark purpley black base (black with a blue/purple shimmer, instead of the brown/red a lot of blacks seem to have as their undertone) with jewel tone blues and greens. Rich rich rich colors. Insanely specific, who, me?

Of the available colors, I think black orchid probably wins by a margin over the others mentioned.

  12. Wow….so many choices….I loved many of them. If I had to pick one, I really liked kelp…and tiger lily. See….I couldn’t even just pick one.

  13. You are very generous!! I love your winter colors (I’m from Vermont so I guess that goes with the weather around here!! Love the moonlight moth or the black orchid!!! Can’t wait to try dyeing myself, already watched your DVD. Can silk be dyed with the mx dyes as well??? I’ have dyed silk with acid dyes before. Thanks, Carol

    1. SIlk is a lovely material that can be dyed with both acid or basic dyes! All my scarves are dyed like I dye cotton – the colors sometimes shift a bit, but it makes it easy for me to work with both at the same time and not add the wrong chemical to the wrong material.

  14. I like the Crocus one. I would also like one that was just purple and yellow (for LSU). Thanks for the giveaway!

  15. How am I supposed to pick just one? I love the entire winter collection, and the sunset one is so striking!!

I guess if I had to pick just one, it would have to be lunar eclipse. Absolutely beautiful.

As for other colors, my best friend adores orange, but I know (from watching your dvd clips) that you don’t have an orange base color. But that’d be a color I’d like to see added to the range. 🙂

  16. They’re all so beautiful! Tough, tough decision, but I think I would go with Wisteria. It’s dreamy and soft and so gentle on the eyes. Thank you for the giveaway!

  17. You have some lovely and creative color combinations. I particularly like the Lunar Eclipse color way. Aqua and Black are some of my favorite colors. Thanks for the giveaway. Have a wonderful Christmas.

  18. Love these scarves! I think I like the red/gray one best. I’ve been looking for a multicolored sheer scarf that I could add writing to with a fabric marker to give to a friend. I’ll keep this one (if I win) and buy another for my friend!

  19. I love the spring lilac colour palette. Lilacs and purples are my favourite colours.

  20. oh, those are stunning. seriously beautiful. either lunar eclipse or moonlit moth – i would be really torn between those two. did i mention that these are GORGEOUS?

  21. Gosh, no way can I pick a favorite. But I think the Lunar Eclipse would go best with my wardrobe. Simply amazing!!

  22. These are so beautiful. I can’t pick just one favorite. I love sunset, and wisteria and earth and sky the best, but they are all gorgeous!

  23. I like ALL the colors of spring, just lovely! Thank you for offering a give a way! Happy Holidays! =)

  24. It’s so hard to choose. I always love the blues but think my favourite is Black Orchid. I love to see a really pure blue-based red, but all of your combos are delish.

  25. Gerber Daisy is my favorite!! I’ve been looking at all your tutorials, thanks for all the great info!

  26. Thank you for the giveaway! They are absolutely lovely scarves and my favorites would have to be the “kelp” and the “crocus”. The “gerber daisy” is also a favorite! They are all gorgeous and I really like your “how to wear” idea photos…..

  27. Oh wow, such a lot of beautiful colours, it was really hard to choose a favourite, but I think the Wisteria one inched out in front of the others.

  28. Hello! Thank you for the opportunity.

I love the crocus color palette. Gorgeous. But also love the moonlit moth palette … and the earth and fire palette.

If you’ve not done so, check out colourlovers.com. There are tons of ideas for color combinations over there. I personally like contrasting colors and analagous colors with contrasting colors. I’m a huge graphic design nerd, and my specialty is color … so I can spend hours pouring over color combos!

If that’s not helpful, you should check out some wedding blogs. Their floral arrangements are always extremely inspiring when I’m looking for a new color combo.

  29. So many beautiful color combinations. It’s really hard to choose one but right this second I’m liking Lunar Eclipse best.

  30. Wow….stunning. It was so hard to pick just one favorite! I have like five favorites. LOL Like, Sunset makes me think of my business logo colors (“PhoenixFire Designs”) so that’s just cool; Wisteria is lovely; but ultimately I think Earth and Sky has to be my favorite. Wow though. Just amazing. Don’t think I can cross enough fingers in hope of winning. Such gorgeous scarves. I have you bookmarked! 🙂

    Thanks!

  31. What gorgeous scarves! Wonderful work.
My favorite color combo is Kelp, closely followed by Moonlit Moth. (You can tell I swerve towards those winter colors.)
Thanks for the opportunity to win! 🙂

  32. I like the purple and gray one in the colors of winter collection…wow oh wow that is cool. I would love to see gray and yellow up there is hot and matches lots!

  33. I think Lunar Eclipse is my favorite. I really like subtle colour variations – so perhaps an all blue scarf with 3 very similar, but subtly different, shades of blue?

  34. Ooooh, so, so beautiful! I LOVE the “colors of summer’ palettes, hard to select just one they are all so gorgeous! Wisteria is lovely, I love anything with purples and blues, such as the one in the center photo on the blog about the giveaway. Decisions, decisions! I just hope I win, then I can go from there! What a great giveaway. You are very talented!

  35. I like the black orchid colorway best, so pretty! Thanks for the chance to win!

  36. Wow, those scarfs are beautiful! I really like the red and grey one. I’m also always a sucker for chocolate brown and turquoise!

  37. Wow – they are all so beautiful that picking a favorite is challenging! I guess I’d have to go with gerber daisy because it would match one of my coats pretty well, or wild rice, since it would coordinate well with the other one! But wow – there are so many others that I like!

  38. Ooh they are all so pretty, but for some new ideas, I think navy blue and gold would be cool and so would a silver and gold and white one (I tend to wear sorta zappy colors, so a more neutral scarf would be good, lol)

  39. Earth & Sky. I love hand dyed scarves! I got to take a class this fall, I’m addicted! What brand of dye do you use? Yours are so vibrant!

  40. I have a thing for green and I can’t help but love Kelp! Thanks for a great giveaway!

  41. The blue-purple scarf is my favorite one — just my colors! Another combination I really like — and it’s a suggestion for you, too — is teal to green.

    Thanks for the chance!

    Greetings from Germany,
    Birgit

  42. Oooh, the Colours of Fall are too dye for (ha, ha!!!). Lovely gesture to offer one of these ‘one of a kind’ scarves up for grabs. It will go under the Xmas tree with my name on it! Merry Xmas from Down Under 🙂

  43. I like the colors of summer, especially the blue and purple. Purple, blue, aqua & black are my favotite combos.

  44. OMG how hard is that? To pick one best color. I love the Madrigals and then the Blue Lunar Eclipes, and Earth Wind and Fire. Such beautiful work. I also checked out your art quilt and pillow buttons. Such talent. I am amazed. Thank you for this give away.

  45. Lovely giveaway, amazing colors, hard to choose. My favorite are Summer Gerber Daisy and Wisteria. Thanks for chance to win it.

    Happy holidays!!

  46. Ocean Surf and Wisteria are my favorites, but I think my soon-to-be 19 year old daughter would absolutely love the Gerber Daisy one – and what a coincidence! Gerber Daisies are her favorite flower 🙂

  47. What gorgeous colors…wow! I’d pick the soft tones in Tiger Lily, I think, if I were lucky enough to win a scarf. Happy holidays!

  48. OMGosh, your scarves aer beautiful and the color combos are TDF, My top 3 would have to be Ocean Surf, Lunar Eclipse and Madrigal.
I’m keeping everything crossed and if I don’t win I’ll have to add one to my B’day wish list… it’s a bit late for Christmas now. Thanks so much for the chance to win one.
I don’t get excited about much but these have made me kind of giddy, LOL

  49. I love the Earth and Sky color combo– those were my wedding colors. I’d suggest other combos, but it seems like you have most everything covered!

  50. I love the Black Orchid however a custom combination would have (burnt )orange, (deep) red and (bright) yellow. Basically the colours of fire. I took a course to learn to make died silk scarves. The instructor came over after I done a few and asked what I did for a living. I thought that a curious question, coming out of the blue. I am an engineer. That explained why my patterns were all straight lines, defined borders and lots of symmetry. I managed more of a free form look for the last couple and, I must say, I liked them best.

  51. What a generous giveaway. Thanks for participating. I would select the Gerber Daisy- I think. You have so many options.

  52. i love the colours above ‘chocolate squash’ – i can’t quite read the name and when i click it, it comes up with your chocolate squash colour combo. beautiful scarves

  53. Since my favorite color is yellow, I am surprised that I like Wild Rice and Moonlit Moth so much. I’d also like to see a cheery green apple color with bright red and bubble gum pink. This is the color combination that I chose for my daughter’s nursery and it turned out very well! Thanks for offering such a wonderful giveaway!

  54. You have so many beautiful color palette choices. I think one of my favorites is the Lunar Eclipse. I love the various shades of blue and they are so beautiful together. Thanks for offering another fantastic giveaway.
