Makers Must: A Q & A on Process with Angie Allen of Jumping Jack Designs

Today I’d like to introduce to one of my meetup pals, Angie Allen of Jumping Jack Designs. She makes delightful event stationery and note cards.

1. Where are you located globally?

I work from a home studio in Reno, Nevada.

2. Where are you found online?

Website: www.jumpingjackdesigns.com

Blog: www.jumpingjackdesigns.com/blog

Etsy: www.jumpingjackdesigns.etsy.com

Twitter: www.twitter.com/modernpaper

Flickr: www.flickr.com/jumpingjackdesigns

Wow, I really get around, don’t I?

3. What is your favorite thing to make?

I enjoy working with client photos and special requests for design. I do everything from babies to fundraising event invitations to weddings. I particularly love creating custom baby announcements. New parents are a pleasure to work with because they are filled with a unique joy that seems to infuse the design process.

4. When you’re making it…

a. what do you love most about it?

I love the marriage of vivid color, playful art and joyful news. For me it doesn’t get better than that.

b. is there some part you really can’t stand?

I can’t stand the business end of things. Invoicing, billing, etc. In a perfect world, that stuff would magically take care of itself.

5. Do you consider yourself process or product oriented?

I am definitely a process oriented maker. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a scribble-y sketch evolve into a unique and personal design made with fabulous paper.

How awesome is it that you get to combine your art with other people’s joy? And I am totally with you on disliking the business end of things…ah, for those magical elves to come and balance our books for us!

Wow, her work is gorgeous. I love all the different ideas–the tree with initials, the ribbon, the bunny. :)

About
My name is Candy Glendening….and I’m addicted to color! I dye fabric so I can have just the hue & texture I want, and then use it to make art quilts and “everyday art”.
